This group, limited to 6 students only, meets every other week and is for photographers and media artists who are looking for support and continuity while working on a project. We’ll discuss different approaches on how to best tell the story that fits each student’s individual project. During these critiques we’ll also cover story structure, research, composition, editing, and documentary and conceptual approaches. This group is also a way to simply talk about anything related to photography to get inspired: we’ll look at other photographers’ work, discuss technical issues, and talk about how to best present a final project (on the web, in book form, an exhibition, or as a multimedia piece).

Please note: 1) Students should submit a selection of at least 10 images or a link to their website to be accepted to this class. 2) Students should either already be working on a project, or have a project idea at the beginning of the class.
To me, online classes have been a synonym for freedom. Freedom of being where I was, geographically. Freedom of expressing myself through the group discussions and learning by sharing with others and with Anja.
—Lara (France)
Since I haven't had the opportunity to study photography formally, I needed a course that would help me acquire an awareness of the composition skills I was thinking about unconsciously. Anja helped me improve my observation skills, both explaining the main elements of composition, with reference to the techniques used by other photographers, and through shooting exercises and group critique, which took me, week after week, to intentionally compose the frame in order to develop a narrative.
