New York City’s 7 subway line — a mostly elevated train with great views — runs from Hudson Yards in Manhattan out to Flushing, Queens, passing through the most diverse county in the United States. Join us as we travel together on the 7 train to make a weekend-long photographic exploration of the different worlds that lie along this route.

Fri, March 17: 1-3pm (ET)

A special curated gallery tour with StrudelmediaLive community, followed by a social get-together.

Sat/Sun, March 18/19: 10am–5pm (ET)

On this curated tour you’ll discover fascinating urban spaces, bustling streets, interesting and varied architecture, intimate communities, and a wide range of people from all over the world. Along the way we’ll visit Long Island City, an industrial area — until recently — with old factory buildings being rapidly replaced by gleaming glass towers. Jackson Heights — where 167 different languages are spoken — is home to a vast array of people from South Asia and Latin America and is filled with intriguing windows of small shops and restaurants. Flushing is one of the largest and fastest-growing Chinatowns outside of Asia and you’ll feel the vibrant pulse of its dense and busy street life.

Sun, March 26: 12–3pm (ET)

The following Sunday, we’ll meet online to discuss and critique your fresh NYC images. This workshop will also be a good opportunity to meet in person and photograph with other StudelmediaLive students you may know only on Zoom.

Activities on both days will be held outdoors as much as possible.

Please note: Make sure to wear good shoes because we'll be walking a good amount.

Thank you for all your guidance and patience with my project. There were some terrific students/talent in the class and you did a great job getting everyone to participate!

I have learned much from Anja and StrudelmediaLive classes. She and the other teachers are very well accomplished on the technical and artistic sides of photography, helping me to grow in both areas. Anja has a creative mind and is very pleasant to work with — very important traits for a photography mentor. I look forward to more classes with her and the other teachers.
