Daura teaches alternative processes for StrudelmediaLive.Samanta Ortega is an artist, educator, and researcher from São Paulo, Brazil, whose work threads through the relationships between nature, humanities, and image-making as world-making. Her practices aim to expand what can be understood as photography by bringing together photochemistry with artisanal and ecological techniques, along with archival re-imagining and found footage — all grounded in the commitment to the political role of images.
She dedicates her practice to public pedagogy through the project Alquimia Fotográfica, offering classes, talks, and exhibitions of her artwork in several Brazilian artist-led spaces, analog photography and cinema festivals, and cultural institutions including the Brazilian National Archive, São Paulo’s Historical Archive, IMS-Rio, SESC, and SESI. As well as contributing to independent projects, seminars, and presentations as a consultant and production assistant, Samanta was part of the jury and selection committees in the Inflamável-Super 8 and 16mm Film Festival (2024), Derli Barroso Prize (2024), and Prix Photo AF (2024/2025).
